Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): An international abbreviation, also used in Poland, for protective clothing and equipment (e.g., helmets, gloves, masks) designed to protect employees from workplace hazards.
In the field of occupational health and safety, PPE is essential equipment that serves as an employee's "last line of defense" against injury. According to the National Labor Inspectorate, employers are obligated to provide this equipment free of charge if hazards cannot be eliminated by other means.
The most common categories of PPE include:
Head protection: industrial helmets, reinforced caps.
Respiratory protection: dust masks, half-mask respirators with filters.
Hearing protection: earmuffs, earplugs.
Eye and face protection: safety glasses, welding helmets.
Limb protection: work gloves, steel-toed shoes.
It is important to remember that each item of PPE must bear the CE marking, confirming compliance with European Union safety standards.
